Born on August 1, 1979 in Honolulu Hawaii, Joseph Jason Momoa is an American writer, actor, producer, and model.
As an only child of Coni a photographer, and Joseph Momoa, a painter. He was raised by his mother. After High School, Momoa began college in Iowa as a marine biology major in Florida Keys. He transferred his major to Wildlife Biology at the Colorado State University. In a bid to reconnect with his father, he moved back to the Hawaiian Islands before completing his degree. As a young man, Momoa traveled a lot and he took up pastel painting in Paris, he studied Buddhist teachings in Tibet.
Momoa was discovered by Takeo Kobayashi, an international designer who encouraged him to go into modelling, and why not, he was bad looking. Momoa would later be win Hawaii’s Model of the Year in 1999and he hosted the Miss Teen Hawaii contest in the same year. As a nineteen-year-old he was appeared in Baywatch Hawaii an action drama series as Jason Loane. He appearances in Johnson Family Vacation (2004), North Shore (2004-2005), Stargate: Atlantis (2005-2009). He featured in Conan the Barbarian (2011) a film that combined sword and sorcery to great effect, as a protagonist. Momoa made waves when he played the role of Khal Drogo on HBO’s Game of Thrones. His sexy looks and perfect body and carriage in the series won him many admirers. Momoa who been on dreadlocks since 2006 had them cut off after season 4 of Stargate: Atlantis was completed.
In 2014, Jason co-wrote and directed an American thriller film tilted Road to Paloma. He worked together with writers Jonathan Hirschbein and Robert Homer Mollohan. The movie saw Lisa Bonet, Wes Studi, Michael Raymond-James, and Momoa himself. In March 2014, Momoa featured in Sugar Mountain along with Haley Webb, Cary Elwes. He also starred in the Sundance TV drama series; The Red Road (2014-2015) where he played Phillip Kopus, an Indian Mountain Indian. In June 2014, there were reports that Momoa had been casted for the role of Aquaman in DC comics’ superhero film Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The rumours were later confirmed in October 2014. He played the role of Connor in Wolves, a Canadian horror film. Momoa also starred in the 2014 sci-fi horror movie, Debug, a movie that was written and directed by his former Stargate: Atlantis co-star, Canadian actor David Hewlett. Momoa is currently featuring in Netflix original series, Frontier, where he has taken up the role of Declan Harp, and in early 2017, he signed onto the official Just Cause movie series.
He really took up the role of Aquaman in Justice League where he and other superheroes like Batman (Ben Effleck), Wonder Woman, Flash and Cyborg faced off against Steppenwolf and his army of parademons. The movie was first announced in October 2014, and the filming was completed in 2017. Momoa is now expected to star in an Aquaman solo movie that is expected to hit the screens in late 2018.
