Liam and Louis both opened up about Zayn leaving the group

We are probably aware that Zayn Malik quit One Direction back in March, releasing a statement in which he said that he wanted to be a “normal 22-year-old”. After five incredible years, Zayn Malik has decided to leave One Direction. Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis will continue as a four-piece and look forward to the forthcoming concerts of their world tour and recording their fifth album, due to be released later this year.

Zayn says: “My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”

One Direction: “We’re really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally
respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we’ve gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue. We’re looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour.”

Simon Cowell: “I would like to thank you too Zayn for everything he has done for One Direction. Since I first met Zayn in 2010, I have grown very, very fond – and immensely proud – of him. I have seen him grow in confidence and I am truly sorry to see him leave. As for One Direction, fans can rest assured that Niall, Liam, Harry and Louis are hugely excited about the future of the band.”

Nearly after seven months since Zayn Malik made the decision to quit One Direction, the remaining members of the group are still reflecting on his harsh departure. In a new interview, Liam Payne even admitted that the whole situation was a ‘disaster’!

When the one Directioner Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson said their farewells to Zayn Malik after he announced he was leaving One Direction on March 25, 2015, it wasn’t easy for them or their loyal Directioners. Although the boys have already done an entire tour and released two singles since after Zayn’s exit, Liam couldn’t deny that losing a member was pretty traumatic after four years as a five-some!

Liam and Louis both opened up about Zayn leaving the group with Good Morning Britain addressing what caused him to leave as well as the outcome of his bold move. While Louis stayed pretty quiet for that part of the conversation, Liam jumped right on the opportunity to declare that things are okay now — but it wasn’t always that way!

“One Direction was never really Zayn’s kind of bag if you know what I mean. His taste of music was a bit different, and I guess that’s kind of what drove him to do what he did in the end,” Liam said. “Which is not necessarily a bad thing, everyone’s come out fine from it thanks to our beautiful fans. He’s doing what he loves as well. Both parties are winners at the end of a disaster of a situation. So, it’s all good.”
