Randy Quaid Arrested On Old Vandalism Charges As He Enters USA, Has Half Million Dollar Bond

Apparently Randy Quaid is a fugitive on an old vandalism charge filed in California. He’s not alone. His wife is a fugitive too! The couple was arrested as they crossed the Canadian/US border and entered the USA in Vermont. That’s one heck of a welcome back message. Randy is unrecognizable in a long white beard. I guess that’s what the cold north does to people. It gives them Santa beard.

Anyway, the charges are against Randy and his wife Evi. They were arrested and had a bond of 500k to make sure they didn’t flee. Evi appeared in court earlier today and Randy was scheduled for later. They plead not guilty.

The charge is felony vandalism, which could be anything from carving their initials into a cave in Kentucky TO taking a sledgehammer and demolishing the Lincoln memorial. Unless you’re familiar with them fleeing the country five years ago, you probably don’t remember this happening.

Evidently they are charged with house squatting. Reportedly they were keeping house in Santa Barbara, in a house that did not belong to them. However, they were the previous owners of the house.  How strange! I’m wondering if they didn’t take good care of it, I mean what’s the deal with the vandalism. I can understand the living part.

The couple suggested they just want to answer the charges and get on with their lives. Can you believe Randy is 65 years old? Wow, time flies when you’re on the run in Canada.

Randy Quaid in Kingpin in Amish costumeI loved Randy Quaid in those crazy comedy roles where he was just a pest or dummy. But everyone keeps talking about him being famous for that ufo movie. I prefer to think of him as a comedian. Oh well. Hope it’s all cleared up soon, maybe drop the charges since it’s been a long time – or just some community service.
