There have been a lot of rumors about Samsung’s next smartphone iteration, the Samsung Galaxy S7. Recent rumors suggest that the company is gearing up to release the new smartphone next year. Samsung’ 2016 flagship smartphone is expected to feature fast data charging and data transfers via a USB Type-C.

According to iDigital Times, new details about the upcoming smartphone has revealed that the company is currently developing the rumored Samsung Galaxy S7 with the latest innovative USB port. The USB Type-C port, mobile experts claim, will enable faster charging speeds and data transfer compared to the existing protocols, the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. If such speculation is true, Samsung’s Galaxy S7 will be comparable to its rival phones— Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, OnePlus 2 and Xiaomi Mi 4c—which has the same feature.

“The primary appeal of USB Type-C is that the oval shape of the plug allows users to plug it in from either direction. No more fumbling with figuring out which way your cord should be facing to plug in your device.USB Type-C is also backwards compatible; however, users would need an adaptor enable this. There is no word on whether the Galaxy S7 would include an interchangeable adapter or if it would be sold separately. It is safe to say that a Galaxy S7 with a USB Type-C port would ship with a USB Type-C plug,” the report said.

In terms of the Samsung Galaxy S7 specs, International Business Times reports, that “Samsung Galaxy S7, which is internally known as ‘Project Lucky’, is expected to sport a QHD (2560x1440p) display, Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, 4GB RAM, 64GB inbuilt memory, 16mp camera with OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) and a 5mp front snapper.”

It was said that the USB Type-C is capable of transferring data with a speed of 10 gigabits per second. Reports say that Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to be announced in January 2016.
