Is there a human who has never failed at any point in his life? There is no one who is good at everything. Failure has its place in everyone’s life, regardless of race, how affluent or wealthy you are, physical strength or experience. No one ever stops failing. Many entrepreneurs have not launched their products, or started their businesses because they are scared of failure. Will people buy? Will they like it? These questions continue to prick the minds of the entrepreneurs who let it. In the end, they don’t eventually do anything.
If the fear of failure could be eradicated, many businesses will be started, and the world will begin to experience the greatest things that it is missing currently. We can do it, by taking one at a time. Here are some tips that can help you overcome the fear of failure in no time.
- Fear can bring regret, and that is even worse. Yes, regret is worse. You can regret not taking an action because you were scared of failure for the rest of your life, or just do it and damn the consequences. The more interesting part is that once you do what you are scared of doing, your fear reduce, and once it fails or succeeds, it actually disappears. Against popular thought, you don’t regret taking the action when you fail. Instead, you are glad that you did, and you found how not to do it. You will be motivated to try again.
- Be a bold person and stop doing things for people’s approval. This is usually the underlying cause of the fear of failure in many young people. We are trying to impress people we don’t like. We do things for people to see, not for fulfilment or ourselves. If you are the only one aware of your failure, you will not feel as bad as you would if everyone sees it. This means you care about what people think more than succeeding. Fear of public embarrassment should not stop you from taking that risk. It is not worth it.
- Don’t be too conscious of your limitations; occupy your mind with your goal. Let the end result that you desire consume you totally, such that it renders every obstacle in your way incapable of stopping you. Focus on your goal, and remind yourself about it everytime you feel fear. You can also highlight the positive side of your task and neglect the limitations, even if you know and see them. What you think about more becomes stronger in your mind. So think about the goal and not the limitation.
- Be confident. Strengthen yourself by believing in yourself and reassuring yourself that you can overcome the fear of failure. The biggest successful business owners and CEOs in the world are just like you, full of doubts and totally human, but there is one thing that got them where they are now; self-confidence and humility. It is often a confused mixture, because humility is seen as a weakness but it is not. It helps you to learn even when you are confident in what you know.
You must know that the greatest mistake in business are learnt from the mistakes that you make. So, make mistakes with pride!
