Smartphones will pass as the hottest category of products in 2018. Many companies have entered the smartphone market, and lots of profits have been made. However, to keep this profits coming, these companies have to innovate and offer exciting features that will make buyers interested and eventually drive sales.
Here are some of the biggest features or trends in smartphones that we have seen in 2018:
Apple introduced the notch in their iPhone X with a notch like screen top that holds firm to the top of the screen holding the camera and other sensors perfectly in the front. At first, it wasn’t really the big thing but it was soon embraced because it was brought into the scene by an industry leader. Apple has gotten to the stage where they can give the market anything and they will take it. In no time, the iPhone X was everywhere and other smartphone brands such as Huawei and Asus decided to copy the trend. Apple then reinforced it with the iPhone Xs and X max. It is not at its highest potential yet, but there are lots of promising potentials in the innovation.
Artificial Intelligence is one of the biggest things in mobile world currently and every smartphone brand is trying to improve on their own artificial intelligence. At the Mobile World Conference this year, LG seemed to be on top of their game with their own AI. Particularly, the smartphone camera has been enabled to do some things that have not been seen in the industry before now. Smartphones can do as much as recognize locations, and use their original knowledge of the location to give it the exact tone up it needs to look perfect. This is just one feature of the artificial intelligence, and as other companies and manufacturers are doing their research in AI, they are coming up with more innovations.
THE BAZEL-LESS TREND
The manufacturers of smartphones have been trimming the edges around smartphone screens but now they are taking it to another level. In 2016, Xiaomi launched the Mi Mix which had the bazel-less screen. They were the only ones who had the bazel-less screen. However, Samsung and Apple has decided to join in on the trend. In the iPhone X, the phone seemed smaller but the screen appears wider. This is because the bazel around the screen has been removed, giving more room for the screen to be expanded. This explains how the iPhone 8 which has a smaller screen can be bigger than the iPhone X which has a bigger screen in size.
Bazel-less phones give leave for the phone screen to be expanded from the conventional 16:9 aspect ratio to 18:9. This gives more room for vertical displays to be seen on the phone and also more room to work conveniently in the split screen mode.
This trends are taking over the industry and it is not even for the expensive luxury phones alone. Many budget phones are also adopting this feature to give a great user experience to their customers.
