Zahn’s performance will be realized using motion capture technology, which brought to life Andy Serkis’ Caesar in the two earlier installments of the franchise. He will play a new ape character in this movie.
Zahn is known for his roles in That Thing You Do, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Dallas Buyers Club. Steve Zahn will be seen acting alongside Danny Trejo and Adam Sandler in The Ridiculous 6, which is currently in post-production. He can also be heard in Pixar’s upcoming The Good Dinosaur, lending his voice to the prehistoric project.
Plot of the movie has been kept under wraps.
Eight movies have come out so far from the franchisee. War of the Planet of the Apes would be the ninth release. The first movie to come out was Planet of the Apes of 1968. With $33.4 million as the box office collection only in North America, it emerged as a huge success, and sparked sequels. The movie was critically acclaimed too. The second movie was released two years later.
Books and television series have also come out on Planet of the Apes. It remains to be seen how War of the Planet of the Apes does at the box office.
