Seasons: 3 seasons, 23 episodes. Starring (voice of): Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong, and, Steven Yeun. Tuca & Bertie is an animated adult T.V show. It’s about two anthropomorphic female birds and revolves around their relationship with one another and with their other animal friends.
Why it’s lukewarm: The first season of Tuca & Bertie was phenomenal. It was different, unique, funny, and witty in an innovative way and left viewers wanting more. As soon as the second season kicked in, it felt as if the writers were running out of new ideas and the storylines kept repeating themselves.
You (So-So)
Seasons: 3 seasons, 30 episodes. Starring: Penn Badgley, Elizabeth Lail, Luca Padovan, Zach Cherry, Shay Mitchell, Victoria Pedretti, Jenna Ortega, James Scully, Ambyr Childers, and, Carmela Zumbado. You is a physiological thriller, based on a novel with the same title. The big question, what would one do for love, is presented to a bookstore manager, who is then tested to see how far he would go.
Why it’s lukewarm: The idea and the original story are absolutely great, however, the execution, is so-so. The actors are outstanding and overall it brings freshness and a unique approach, however, will You stand the test of time and be in the same condition in years to come? We think not.
Cooked (So-S0)
Seasons: 1 season, 4 episodes. Starring: Michael Pollan and Isaac Pollan. Cooked is another cooking show, however this time it covers the history of the different ways of cooking and how it affects us as humans. It explores the four elements of the world; fire, water, earth, and air, and how food and cooking methods are translated through them. Sounds promising, ah? Well, not exactly.
Why it’s lukewarm: The initial idea and the kickstart of the show are innovative and reassuring, however, the show was lacking in depth and therefore only lasted one season. On one hand, it highlights many food-related issues we have today, however, it doesn't deliver any real solutions for us to fix what has been damaged.
Elite (So-So)
Seasons: 5 seasons, 40 episodes. Starring: María Pedraza, Itzan Escamilla, Miguel Bernardeau, Miguel Herrán, Jaime Lorente, Álvaro Rico, Arón Piper, Mina El Hammani, Ester Expósito, and,Omar Ayuso. Elite is a Spanish teen thriller series. It features the fictional relationship between three middle-lower class students and their filthy rich classmates.
Why it’s lukewarm: If the producers would have kept the storyline simpler and less fictional, then Elite could easily go on our Best list. However, too many elements, such as two timelines, and an unsolved mystery, turn this series into a So So one.
Emily in Paris (So-So)
Seasons: 2 seasons, 20 episodes. Starring:Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, Camille Razat, William Abadie, and, Lucien Laviscount. Emily in Paris is an easy-to-watch rom-com series, about Emily who is repositioned by her work to Paris and experiences the French people's true nature, the complexity of relationships, and the beauty of one of the most romantic cities in the world.
Why it’s lukewarm: Because if you've seen one, you've seen them all. Emily in Paris doesn't renew anything, there is no innovation, no surprises, and no extraordinary acting skills. Having said that, it's full of punch lines, it's a great show to watch on a girl's night in, and it captures exquisite shots of Paris. What more should a girl ask for?
