This might sound like the name of a children’s book, but it’s a true story: Lady Gaga’s dad, Joe Germanotta, was actually the first to install Wi-Fi in hotels back at the beginning of the current century.
He started the Guest WiFi company in the year 2002, and the rest is, quite literally, history. What would we have done without hotel Wi-Fi? Or without Lady Gaga? These are two things we have Joe to thank for.
A Large Caramel Frappuccino for… Stefani?
Yes, we know this might not really feel right to you, but if you'd like to call Lady Gaga by her real name, you'd have to call her Stefani. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, to be exact. With a real name this long and complex, we kind of get why she chose to go by a stage name instead.
Anyways, we also adore her birth name and the Italian scent oozing out of it. Go Lady G-, um, Stefani Joanne! Btw, Gaga's sixth album is titled Joanne, and now you know why.
Yas Queen
If you were wondering how the iconic stage name "Lady Gaga" came to be, let us tell you: it was inspired by Queen. By the legendary band's duet with David Bowie, "Radio Ga Ga," to be precise.
We're having a hard time deciding which of those incredible music icons we love more, but thankfully, no one actually asked us to choose. Phew.
The Queen of DIY
Did you know that in some cultures, the terms "Lady Gaga" and "eccentric outfits" are interchangeable? As it turns out, the lady's affection for weird costumes goes all the way back to the first grade, when she acted in a play and made her costume all by herself, using hangers and tinfoil.
Just picture tiny Stefani making that wonderfully-weird costume and rocking it on stage for everyone to see. Btw, if you're calling us right now and we're not picking up, it's because we're channeling all our energy into not blurting out an embarrassing "aww."
Stefani Soprano
Lady Gaga's Italian descent makes her a perfect fit for the hit TV show "The Sopranos," revolving around an Italian-American mobster, but we're sure it's far from being the only reason she was cast to play a small one-time role on the show when she was 15 years old.
Little did they know, teenage Stefani would become international pop superstar Lady Gaga only a few years later!
A Natural Brunette
Many people don't know this, since Gaga is most recognized with her signature platinum blonde shade, but the woman is actually a natural-born brunette! If you've seen her hair in "A Star is Born" – that's more or less her real color. But check out the (alleged) reason why she started dying her hair, to begin with.
Gaga told People magazine people used to confuse her for Amy Winehouse, and she wanted to create a clear distinction. We can actually see the resemblance, now that she mentions it! Anyways, dyed or natural – there aren't many people as distinct as Lady Gaga.
Two-Women Show?
It's really hard to picture Lady Gaga as anything other than a solo artist, possessing such hypnotizing stage presence and such bold charisma. But in her earlier and more anonymous singing days, Gaga was a part of a musical duo called "Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue," performing 70s and 80s songs.
Among other things, their show would include go-go dancing and burning hairspray cans. Sounds cool, but we prefer her as a solo act, hands down.
Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera
Among other things, Gaga also used to be a student at Julliard, where she trained in classical music. And it turns out that one of her vocal coaches at the school also trained Christina Aguilera! Boy, that vocal coach must be proud.
Also, how is it that these two pop divas haven't teamed up for a mutual song yet? And no, their "The Voice" performance of Gaga's "Do What You Want" doesn't count, even though we loved it. So, we're waiting for an official duet. Just remember who came up with the idea first.
University Dropout
Lady Gaga is anything but uneducated – the woman sings, writes, plays, and composes music all on her own. But when it comes to academic education, well, let's just say it wasn't a match. Gaga enrolled in New York University fresh out of high school but soon dropped out to pursue a music career.
According to the fabulous singer, she thought she could teach herself art better than any school. We strongly agree with that notion.
Writing for the Stars
Lady Gaga was born a star, we're pretty sure about that; but before the rest of the world found that out, she used to write songs for other music stars. On her 20th birthday, Gaga was signed to Interscope Records, and during her period with the label, she co-wrote songs for various pop musicians such as Jennifer Lopez, Fergie, and The Pussycat Dolls.
Little did she know that not too long after she'd become just as much a pop icon as they were, and, well, let’s face it – much more.
Meat Me There
We all know Gaga's famous, or rather, notorious meat dress from the 2010 MTV VMAs (and if you happen to have been living under a rock, we graciously added a picture here). But did you know it wasn't even the expensive kind of meat?
You'd expect nothing but premium-grade steaks for her but you'd be wrong. While everyone else rocked super pricy designer clothes, the Lady wore cheap cuts as her evening wear. We're speechless.
A Thing for Tattoos
Did you know that Miss Gaga has over 20 tattoos on her fab bod? But here's another interesting fact about Gaga's tattoos: when she first started her romance with ink, her father asked her to at least keep one side of her body the way God intended for it to be (well, the wording is ours, he just asked her to keep one side tattoo-free).
So, for quite a while, she only had tattoos on the left side of her body, which she called her "Iggy Pop side." Today, however, she has tattoos on both sides.
It’s Britney, B**ch?
You wouldn't believe it, but there's someone in this world who doesn't think Lady Gaga is the official and undefeatable queen of pop – Gaga herself! It turns out that she actually thinks another famous singer is the one to deserve this title – fellow diva Britney Spears.
What can we say? Maybe there can be two pop divas at the same time? Whom do we email about this?
The Wrong Number
Here's a surprising fact about Gaga's hit duet with Beyonce, "Telephone" – it was originally written for a third pop diva! Britney Spears, to be precise. It was meant to be part of Spears' "Circus" album but was eventually dropped by her and given to this amazing diva-duo instead.
We love you Britney, but we couldn't be more thankful, since Gaga and Beyonce's version is one of our favorite songs.
A Family of Fashionistas
We're not sure if this would come as much of a surprise to you, but it seems that Lady Gaga literally has fashion in her genes. A supporting argument for that would be that her sister Natali is a fashion designer!
Among other things, Natali is responsible for some of Gaga's wackiest outfits and looks, and she also played one of the inmates in the promo for "Telephone." How cool is that?
Gaga the Godparent
One of our favorite fun facts about Gaga – and definitely one of the sweetest – is her being the Godmother of Elton John's two sons, Elijah and Zachary. Is that, like, the biggest honor ever, or what?
We have no doubt that Gaga is an amazing Godmother, and we kind of wish she was ours, too. Maybe there's still a way to make that happen?
Teenage Trauma
Unfortunately, even though so many people recognize the fact that different is beautiful – Gaga's classmates back when she was at school didn't seem to think so. Among other things, they put her in a trash can once and used to call her "rabbit teeth."
This is so incredibly sad and disturbing, but we really hope they're crazy jealous of how successful she is today. We genuinely think the woman is an inspiration.
Born This Way
Other than being one of our favorite songs, "Born this Way" is also the name of a foundation started by Lady Gaga herself. As a past sufferer of both bullying and eating disorders, Gaga has a special place in her heart for people in need.
Her foundation helps struggling teenagers better their lives and their communities. Gaga was awarded the LennonOno Grant for Peace for the admirable work of her foundation. We salute you, Stefani.
Smokey
We're not sure if we're pro or against this, but we heard one of Gaga's creative habits is enjoying some of the devil's lettuce while she's writing music. This might sound like a questionable habit to some, but we think if it works for her, and if it allows her to provide the world with such heavenly music, well… we can live with that.
She keeps this information relatively low-key and doesn't throw it in her young audience's faces so it doesn't harm anyone directly. So be it.
Signature Scent
We know Gaga is quite the weird lady, but just how weird? Well, she definitely has an interesting mind, we'll give you that. A good example is her very real offer to use blood (and some other bodily fluids we're refrained from mentioning here) in her Fame perfume.
However, since doing so would violate FDA regulations (duh), she settled for Belladonna instead. Whatever floats your bizarre boat, girl.
Living With Pain
One of the less glamorous – but more important – facts about Gaga is that she suffers from Fibromyalgia. That was the reason for her canceling her European tour in September 2017 and February 2018, as she was suffering some major pain and couldn't perform.
Fibromyalgia is a long-term illness that causes various types of chronic pain, and Gaga talks about her experience with the condition in the documentary "Gaga: Five Foot Two." We're so proud of you, Stefani.
From Riches to Rags to Riches
Lady Gaga is among the most successful women in the music business (well, so we've heard). So, it's pretty hard to imagine her being utterly poor, but that was once the case. Gaga revealed going bankrupt after purchasing outfits for her Monster's Ball tour for millions of dollars.
We're really not sure if this is tragic or simply epic. Anyway, we believe the singer's financial balance has since been restored. You don't have to worry anymore.
The King and Queen of Pop
Okay, get this – Lady Gaga is the official owner of Michael Jackson's clothes. We kid you not. Apparently, Gaga purchased the king of pop's outfits at an auction, and needless to say, they are worth a lot (like thousands of dollars kind of a lot).
Among her MJ collectibles, one can find one of the singer's gloves and his "Thriller" jacket. Wow. It could be amazing if she decides to entertain us in one of her shows fully geared in MJ's wardrobe. Phenomenal!
Nervous, Much?
This is about to get a bit disgusting, so just a heads up before you continue reading. On her first day of filming for "American Horror Story: Hotel" Lady Gaga got so nervous she actually threw up. Thankfully, her mouth made it to a plastic bag, so no one got hurt.
However, the show's co-creator, Ryan Murphy, was the one she handed the bag to after. So he may have been hurt, to an extent. However, we think carrying a bag with Lady Gaga's gag in it is still a moment one should cherish.
Breaking Records
You better be sitting down for this: Lady Gaga is the first female actress to win an Oscar, a Grammy, a BAFTA, and a Golden Globe, all in the same year! Yep, that's right: not Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, or Jennifer Lawrence. Stefani Germanotta, ladies and gentleman.
Oh, we forgot to mention – Gaga won all those awards for her amazing portrayal of Ally in the 2018 rendition of the movie "A Star Is Born." Gorgeous movie, gorgeous soundtrack, gorgeous Gaga.
Shine Bright Like a Diamond
As of writing these lines, only 74 songs in history have been certified diamond, and two of those songs belong to Lady Gaga! We think that's pretty damn astounding. Diamond certifications are handed out by the Recording Industry Association of America to songs that have over 10 million sales and streams and have gone platinum 10 times.
So, what are Gaga's two Diamond songs? You must be wondering. The 2009 and 2008 hits, "Bad Romance" and "Poker Face."
Makeup Brand Owner
Who could be a better fit to own her very own makeup brand than the legendary fashion icon Lady Gaga? The answer is probably, no one; so, it's a good thing she launched the makeup brand HAUS Laboratories in 2019. The brand's makeup products are named after her songs, which is also a super cool touch.
HAUS Laboratories was voted the best new band at the 2020 Allure Reader's Choice Awards, and we couldn't agree more. Can anyone get us some free samples in here?
This Time, Baby, I'll Be Bulletproof
Here's a surprising bit about Lady Gaga: When performing at Joe Biden's inauguration in 2021, she wore a bulletproof dress! Yep, we're not kidding. Gaga's fancy Schiaparelli dress, which was all red and blue to fit the occasion, could literally take a bullet for her should anyone happen to decide to attack her while singing "The Star-Spangled Banner."
Thank God no one had decided to put that to the test, and the dress remained just an extraordinary, out-of-this-world, only Gaga could get away with it dress.
G.I. Gaga
Lady Gaga's previous professional aspiration, prior to her decision to pursue a music career, was… wait for it… being a combat journalist! Yep, that's right. Interviewing for British Vogue, Gaga shared this strange yet cool detail about herself.
Fans had mixed feelings towards the Lady's revelation about her former combat career aspirations, but anyway, it's all water under the bridge now.
Flying Saucer
Okay, it's just a regular saucer, but it's Lady Gaga's, which has to make it extra special! The singer actually carries around a purple teacup and saucer at all times. The reason: Gaga is used to drinking tea with her mom, so carrying those two items helps her feel at home wherever she goes.
We're not sure if that's super sweet or just weird. Probably a little bit of both. Sounds like this is also one thing that makes Gaga a true lady.
The Gaga Crew
Lady Gaga has a special name for the crew that accompanies her regularly: "Haus of Gaga" (yes, like her "HAUS Laboratories" makeup brand). So, who are the lucky people in the Haus of Gaga crew?
The Lady's sound artists, stage designers, clothes designers, and visual artists. We're about to enroll in sound or fashion design studies just to get a chance to become part of it.
A Whiskey Lover
What's your poison? We know what Lady Gaga is – it's whiskey. Irish whiskey, to be exact. Gaga was quoted saying that her old friend Jameson is in great part responsible for many of her songs.
She's also made sure to clarify that nobody's paying her to promote the brand, she just loves it. Well, who are we to judge when it comes to matters of the heart?
The Fame
"The Fame" is the name of Lady Gaga's debut album, which really did bring her a ton of fame, so she must be some kind of prophet or something. The album reached number one in Canada, the UK, and other places across the globe!
Two songs from this album, "Just Dance" and "Poker Face," also became number one hits worldwide; and the album was a six-time nominee and two-time Grammy winner. Her parents must have been so proud!
Less Glamourous Days
Nowadays, Lady Gaga is the epitome of glam, but things weren't always as glittery for her. Gaga has confessed to having issues in the past when it came to illegal substances and shared that thinking of her past NYC apartment makes her feel terrible.
According to the singer, the apartment had bed bugs and roaches on the floor and substances all over the place. We're SO relieved she's better now, and are pretty certain her current home is much cleaner and more wholesome.
A Reality Star
Well, perhaps not a star, but at least a participant. Once upon a time, before Lady Gaga was Lady Gaga, she took part in two different American reality shows! The first one was MTV's Boiling Point in 2005, and the second one was The Hills in 2008.
We've actually never watched those two TV cameos by her, so if anyone has it on tape, please email us asap! We would love to see what Gaga was all about back at the beginning of the century.
A Record Is Born
We knew Gaga's "Born This Way" must have been a huge commercial success, but we didn't imagine just how huge. It turns out it actually broke a sales record, selling over one million copies in the first five days after its release.
We really want to know how one becomes such a crazy pop genius as Gaga, reinventing herself in a way that her fans love every single time.
Walk on Bi
This isn't news to us, really, since we're such avid Gaga-heads, but some people might still not be aware of the fact that Lady Gaga is a proud bisexual. But wait, there's more.
Did you know that her hit song "Poker Face" actually talks about that experience? How cool is that? We knew there was a good reason we've always loved it so much.
Nicky, Paris, and Stefani
At first glance, Lady Gaga doesn't seem to have anything in common with Nicky and Paris Hilton. But if you dig a little deeper, you find out that all three went to the same school – Convent of Sacred Heart in NYC.
We're not really sure if they were friends (we have a hunch that it's a no) or even knew each other, but it's still cool celebrity trivia.
All-Powerful
We know Lady Gaga is a powerful person, but just how powerful? In 2010, she was named the Most Powerful Musician in the World! So, that's how powerful she is.
We're not sure what the title of most powerful musician includes, but it sounds pretty fancy, and we're sure she deserves it, being such an impactful singer, songwriter, and performer.
Who Needs Pants?
Wearing pants is for boring people! Lady Gaga can do – and go – without. If you don't believe us, just take a look at her photos from the 2016 Met Gala, where she went pant-less.
This really goes to show that true fashion icons like Lady Gaga don't even need a whole outfit to stand out – they can make do with just half.
So Hot It's Illegal
Lady Gaga made the expression "so hot it's illegal" a reality when she was cited by the Chicago Police for wearing Hotpants in public. Yes, that's right – the Singer was cited for indecent exposure!
It's totally decent of her to share her beautiful body with the general public if you ask us. Too bad the cops don't seem to think so.
Lady Gaga Studies
If there had been an academic course dealing with Lady Gaga, we would sign up, for sure. Oh, wait a minute, there is one! It's a full-time course at the University of South Carolina called "Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame."
What are you still doing here and why aren't you on a plane to South Carolina? Hurry up and get your plane tickets!
An Avid Philanthropist
It's no secret that Lady Gaga's biggest organ is her heart. You can tell that easily just by listening to her inspiring songs, reading one of her interviews, or listening to an occasional winning speech she delivers.
She's totally into charity, and one of the most charitable things she did was donate $500,000 for disaster relief in Haiti. Way to go, Stefani.
A Man's World?
We're not entirely sure why – well, it probably has to do with Lady Gaga exuding mystery and tending to wear all kinds of crazy outfits – but one of the most persistent rumors about her is that she was born male.
Well, at least as far as we know, and as far as her childhood images demonstrate Gaga was born female, so we're not really sure why some people insist on trying to dig up juicy secrets where there aren't any. Oh well.
Daddy's Girl
Lady Gaga seems to have a very special relationship with her father and particularly with her father's health condition. Interviewing for Vogue, Gaga confessed her major obsession with her dad's health, saying that she often asks her mom if there is any change or not.
Her father is a heavy smoker and Gaga is aware of the dangers involved. Gaga even tattooed her left shoulder with the word "dad." Awww. No, but honestly, this got us teary-eyed.
An Aries
Gaga was born on March 28th, 1986, which makes her an Aries. Looking at her personality traits, this definitely checks out! People of this sign tend to be highly creative and imaginative, as well as sympathetic, kind, and honest. Ring any bells? We sure think so.
So much so that we're about to start singing "the age of aqua…" oh, wait, that's a different sign. Never mind.
Short but Sweet
Her heels and powerful presence might fool some people, but Lady Gaga is actually pretty short! She's only 5'1 (about 155 cm) tall. Also, she is pretty light, weighing around 177 pounds (roughly 53 kg).
Who would have thought such a strong voice, both physically and figuratively, can come out of someone that tiny? We sure didn't, but you know what they say – truth can be stranger than fiction.
Beautiful, Dirty, Rich
We really hope you know Lady Gaga's song "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" (and if you don't, stop whatever it is you're doing and give it a listen ASAP) – but what about the singer's real-life fortune?
Well, it turns out that the pop diva is worth about $320 million. And she hasn't had the last word yet, obviously. Please excuse us while we go cry in the corner.
Good Romance
It's rather hard to keep up with this lady's love life, but as far as we know, she's currently dating Michael Polansky, an investor, and entrepreneur linked to huge company names like Napster and Facebook.
In the past, Gaga was romantically involved with various other men, among whom are actor Taylor Kinney, designer Matt 'Dada' Williams, and audio engineer Daniel Horton. We don't really care whom she's dating, as long as they make her happy.
A Hit Maker
Look, we heard that some artists work quickly once inspiration kicks in, but we'd never imagine a pop masterpiece such as "Born this Way" could have been written in only 10 minutes.
The thing is, what we would or wouldn't have imagined is irrelevant, since that's exactly what happened! Gaga was quoted saying that "the gates just opened" with this one. We tend to agree with her on that.
Dog-Eat-Dog World
Here's a pretty peculiar – and also alarming – fact about Lady Gaga: her dog walker, Ryan Fischer, was shot by LA gangsters in 2021 while walking her two French bulldogs, who were then stolen by the shooters.
Gaga then offered a $500,000 reward for anyone who would return her beloved dogs, Gustav and Koji. Luckily, the two dogs were returned to her, and no less importantly, the brave dog walker recovered fully. Thank God!
Gaga Senior and the Hotel Wi-Fi
This might sound like the name of a children's book, but it's a true story: Lady Gaga's dad, Joe Germanotta, was actually the first to install Wi-Fi in hotels back at the beginning of the current century.
He started the Guest WiFi company in the year 2002, and the rest is, quite literally, history. What would we have done without hotel Wi-Fi? Or without Lady Gaga? These are two things we have Joe to thank for.
Exotic Taste
It turns out that Lady Gaga has pretty weird taste in stuff. Not that we're surprised, really, as she's anything but ordinary. On her list of favorites, you can find lavender and black as favorite colors; and peach cobbler – which is basically an extra-sophisticated fruit pie – as a favorite food.
To be honest, we've heard of worse favorites in our lifetime. Lady Gaga being lady Gaga is unique in every single way, and we appreciate the originality.
Pink Oreo
Did you know that Lady Gaga released her very own limited-edition Oreo brand? How cool is that? Very, if you ask us. The Oreos were inspired by Gaga's Chromatica album and had a green filling and pink packaging (sounds like Lady Gaga to us).
Each one of the cookies in the package carried a design inspired by the album, which is also super cool. Boy, would we like to put our hands (and teeth) on one of these!
Relationship With Bradley Cooper?
There aren't enough letters in the English language to talk about the number of relationship rumors that were going around about Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper after the two starred together in "A Star Is Born."
These two had such insane on-screen and on-stage chemistry, that it was almost impossible to believe there was nothing going on between them. However, they both maintain that nothing happened and that all we saw was deep – platonic – appreciation for one another. OK.
Collab With Tony Bennett
One of the more unexpected-yet-successful collaborations done in popular music in the past decade is Lady Gaga's collaboration with veteran singer Tony Bennett. This was not the first for Bennet to work with a young artist as we all recall the astonishing version of "Body and Soul" he recorded with the late Amy Winehouse in 2011.
Bennet and Gaga teamed up in 2014 to release their first mutual album, "Cheek to Cheek," then followed by a second collab titled "Love for Sale" which they recorded when Bennett was 95 (!) years old. We think that's amazing.
Gaga's Little Monsters
Many artists have their group of die-hard fans, and this type of fans often has a designated group name they go by. In Lady Gaga's case, it’s her "Little Monsters." We honestly think there's no more adequate name for avid Lady Gaga fans since she's all about letting her freak flag fly.
This unique group of fans also has a special symbol – the monster claw gesture from the "Bad Romance" music video. To top it all off, Lady Gaga supposedly functions as "Mother Monster" to her loving fans.
A True New Yorker
New York City has always attracted artists to come to live in it, as it has such a diverse and rich culture. However, some artists were simply lucky enough to be born there, and Lady Gaga is one of them.
The girl was born and raised in NYC, growing up on Upper West Side Manhattan, so she can literally call the city her hometown.
An Ethnic Mix
Just in case you were wondering about Lady Gaga's ethnic descent, here are all the details: While the Lady was born in the USA (feel free to hum the song right now), her parents come from Italian and French origins.
We could definitely guess the Italian part from the sound of her freakishly-long birth name: Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. The French bit, however, caught us by surprise! C'est très cool.
Place of Residence: L.A
While we mentioned Lady Gaga being a natural-born New Yorker, we hate to break it to you: her current place of residence (at least when she's not on tour) is actually the city of angels. Like many other stars, the singer has her own mansion in Malibu, Los Angeles.
We're sure it's awesome, but we've never been. That's a good opportunity to reach out to Lady Gaga on this matter: we're waiting for an invitation!
On the Nose
If you're following Lady Gaga closely, you might have stumbled upon the rumors saying she had a nose job. But are they true? We're actually not sure. Gaga once said her slightly weird-looking nose was the main reason she started wearing crazy outfits – to distract people from looking at it.
Some say her nose nowadays appears thinner than it was in the past, but it's kind of hard to say. Anyway, we think you're beautiful just the way you are.
Wearing Gucci
Lady Gaga continues to maintain her status as a 'real actress,' and has starred in the film "House of Gucci" in 2021! In the movie, she plays Patrizia Reggiani, the love-interest-turned-wife of the heir of the Gucci fashion empire, who fights him for control over the successful Italian brand.
Want to know how it all turns out in the end? Well, watch the movie. By the way, Gaga stars there alongside other big Hollywood names like Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Al Pacino, and Salma Hayek. Respect!
Social Media Influencer
It might not come as much of a surprise to many of you, but other than being a super successful singer-songwriter and a pop mega-icon, Lady Gaga is also quite the social media influencer.
The girl literally has more than 50 million followers on Instagram! And that's before even counting her followers on other social platforms. We'll follow you anywhere, Lady Gaga.
Her First Tattoo
We're not going to blab about Lady Gaga's numerous tattoos in this entry, as we already have another one dedicated to that. However, let's dedicate a minute to discuss her very first one: it was a treble clef and she had it tattooed on her lower back when she was only 17.
Like many decisions we make at an early age, Gaga seems to have regretted this one and had it covered up when she was 22. So long, treble clef. We actually think you were a perfect fit.
Signora Italiana
Lady Gaga is proud of her Italian ancestry, and it also seems to seep into her culinary skills! According to what we can see on her Instagram profile, Gaga's pasta-making skills are not too shabby. She can actually make homemade pasta. Like, from scratch.
We'd really like to come over and have her bestow her cooking wisdom upon us. And just hang out in the kitchen and exchange gossip like BFFs.
Gaga and Rob Fusari
The word on the street says that Lady Gaga was romantically involved with music producer Rob Fusari back in 2005. But here's where it gets complicated: it was while they were working together on her music.
Among other things, Fusari says he was the one who came up with the "Lady Gaga" alter ego. We're not sure if we believe him, to be honest. We're leaning towards Gaga's version. And we're not biased. Like, at all.
Child's Play
Gaga shared that she used to go crazy for "My Little Pony" toys. According to the Lady, she was totally obsessed with the notion of a creature born with something magical in them, making them a misfit in a world of stallions.
We can totally relate. Also, speaking of kids' stuff – Gaga's favorite cartoon character is Bugs Bunny. We can relate to that, too.
With a Little Help from Her Friend
Before officially becoming a pop star, Gaga had her period of writing for other famous artists. But what really pushed her out of that phase and encouraged her to focus on her own music? Believe it or not, it was a talk she had with a musician friend, perhaps you've heard of him, his name is Akon.
He convinced her to take her music career more seriously, and, well, we think it worked. Luckily enough, Gaga has good friends in her life. If it wasn't for Akon, who knows who would receive all the awards instead of her?
A Lady of Many Names
Other than Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta and Lady Gaga, the singer has quite a few other names she goes by. Among her variety of nicknames, you can find Mother Monster, Loop, Gagaloo, Little Mermaid, and Rabbit Teeth.
We're not entirely sure if she likes being called by that last one, though. We'd double-check with her assistant before calling her that.
A Musical Fortune Teller
Is Lady Gaga a fortune teller or just a musical trendsetter? Probably a little bit of both. In 2007, the people at Gaga's music label were concerned about her music being too underground for most people and were worried this might get in between her and widespread commercial success.
Gaga was certain that her style was the next big thing in mainstream music and wouldn't agree to change it. It turned out that she was right.
Origin Stories
We've heard quite a lot of versions regarding the origin of the name Lady Gaga, and we're pretty sure this one is mostly fictitious, but we'll leave it to you to judge. Even if this is just a fable, we love the link to Queen.
One version says that Gaga's producer texted her the name of the Queen song "Radio Ga Ga," but his phone autocorrected "Radio" to "Lady" – and that's how the name came to be. True or false? You decide.
Hair Trouble
Lady Gaga told People magazine in an interview that she has been experiencing some hair loss as a result of dying her hair too much. She said she needed a chemical haircut to help keep her hair in decent shape, which doesn't sound too great.
Oh, the suffering one has to go through to remain permanently blonde! Anyway, we'll always think she's beautiful, with or without hair.
A Fashion Icon. Officially
The words "fashion icon" are mentioned here numerous times, and it's not an accident, since Lady Gaga has been setting trends ever since she first became famous (and probably beforehand among her close circle of friends and family).
But her truly official recognition as a fashionista came in 2011 when she made her runway debut at a fashion show in Paris for fashion designer Nicola Formichetti.
Baby Gaga?
We’re not sure if the ice cream flavor "Baby Gaga" created by a company in London is a reference to our beloved Lady, but if it is, well, let's just say it's pretty damn strange, as one of its key ingredients is… wait for it… breast milk.
Feel free to grab a paper bag right now. We believe Gaga used the words "nausea-inducing" to describe her opinion of it.
All Made Up
We can't fully vouch for it, but some allegedly official sources claim that Lady Gaga never leaves her hotel room without ALL her makeup on. As in, a full look. According to her always-flawless looks, that's one rumor about her we actually tend to believe is true.
Anyway, we're huge makeup fans, so don't get us the wrong way – but we think it's good to leave the house (or hotel) makeup-free every now and then.
Philosophical Ink
Yes, this is a Lady-Gaga-Tattoo entry. The one we're currently talking about is an extra-sophisticated one, as it's basically a quote from Rainer Maria, which is the singer's favorite philosopher (whom we've never heard of up until just now, but don’t tell anyone).
It goes like this: "In the deepest hour of the night, confess to yourself that you would die if you were forbidden to write. And look deep into your heart where it spears its roots the answer and ask yourself; must I write?" OMG, how Lady Gaga is this?
In Your Face
Would you believe one of Lady Gaga's super-audacious exes dared tell her that she'd never succeed, never be nominated for a Grammy, and never have a hit song? To top it off, he also said he hoped she failed. We honestly can't think of a good reason to offend precious Gaga with such harsh words, but the most important thing is, that they were utterly false premonitions!
In response, Gaga had told him that one day, she'll be so famous, that he won't be able to do as much as order coffee without hearing or seeing her. Boy, was she right.
An Early Songbird
Saying that Lady Gaga started her creative endeavors early would be the understatement of the year. The girl started singing and acting when she was only 4 years old! If we want to be more specific (and we do, duh), she's been playing the piano since the age of four and writing songs since the age of 13.
Acting-wise, as a young girl she played Philia in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" and Adelaide In "Guys and Dolls." We're starting to feel incompetent all of a sudden, for some reason.
You Get a Free Pizza, and You Get a Free Pizza!
Lady Gaga fans didn't really need any extra reasons to love her, but just in case any of them did, she provided them with one more when she canceled her show in Montreal in 2017 because she was too sick to perform.
As compensation (well, at least as a compensation attempt), she invited her fans to gather outside her hotel and get free pizza! Yum. The way to our heart definitely goes through our stomach, so we would have appreciated it.
Earning Her Daily Bread
Famous people weren't always famous, as we all know. And that also means that practically all of them had worked at one or two (or three or four) less glamorous jobs prior to being celebrities.
That's also true for Lady Gaga, who used to work – rumor has it – as a bar dancer. We're actually willing to bet she was an awesome one.
Starstruck
Did you know Lady Gaga used to be engaged to yet another star – Taylor Kinney from "Vampire Diaries?" She met Kinney during the filming of her music video for the song "You and I" and the two were engaged from February 2015 to July 2016 but ultimately broke up.
We're not sure why, but we can tell for sure it was his loss as Lady Gaga is only escalating up the stairs of fame. Who can ever pass up such a lovely gem?
