Here is Barbra Streisand standing at the podium with Gregory Peck at the awards ceremony held at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. She is decked out in a beautifully printed gown with sequins.
Her embellished ensemble with fur trim, including a matching headpiece, made her a fashion favorite at the Globes. Even though now donning fur would be frowned upon. The iconic is known for her flamboyant dress sense, and she does not disappoint here. Streisand is pictured collecting her first Golden Globe for her role in “Funny Girl.”
Kaley Cuoco - 2021
“Big Bang Theory” actress Kaley Cuoco wore a princess ballroom gown for the 2021 Golden Globes. Undeterred by a mostly virtual awards show, Cuoco donned the straight-off-the-runway Oscar de la Renta gown with sheer joy.
She loved it so much, the grey strapless gown adorned with shooting stars and other sparkles brought tears to her eyes upon seeing it. Cuoco, who was nominated for “The Flight Attendant,” said it was her “dream gown.” That night was her first nomination for the Golden Globe prize.
Margot Robbie - 2021
There was a scaled-back red carpet at the 78th Golden Globes, but we got to see this gorgeous Australian at the event because she was on board as a presenter. Margot Robbie dressed in all Chanel.
Her adorable black and white polka dot frock was from Chanel’s spring and summer 2021 runway. Ruffles and a carefree style mask the thigh-high slit. There was a Chanel belt on her waist and Chanel jewels adorning her ensemble. As the face of the French fashion designer, it all makes sense. The actress, who is also a producer, is a two-time Oscar nominee.
Elle Fanning - 2021
Elle Fanning donned one of the silkiest gowns the Golden Globes has ever seen. It is a fabulous satin Gucci, custom-made by Alessandro Michele. It features crystal brooches, bejeweled, and created by Gucci.
Fanning received a nomination for her portrayal of Catherine in “The Great.” Her aqua blue gown came to the Golden Globes virtually as parts of the 2021 bi-coastal event were broadcast on E! virtual red carpet. Fanning showed off her wraith-like ensemble on Instagram.
Kerry Washington - 2020
The most brazen fashion display on the 2020 red carpet was brought to us by Kerry Washington. The “Scandal” star rocked a black silk ensemble that incorporated a black blazer and a skirt with a long slit.
In lieu of a shirt, she wore a sparkling bling chain bodice. The belly chain was knotted and draped, presumably holding the blazer together. The creation is by Altuzarra. The actress was a presenter at the event. On Instagram, Washington tagged her look a #Glam.
Zoë Kravitz - 2020
The “Big Little Lies” and "Catwoman" star delivered a light-hearted but elegant presence to the 2020 red carpet. Zoë Kravitz looked striking in this Saint Laurent polka dot extravaganza.
The actress was a presenter at the awards ceremony, and it was a treat. Stepdad Jason Momoa, who was Aquaman at the time, stood at the podium with her. Kravitz shows so much sophistication because, besides being an actress, she is a fashion model for top brands like YSL.
Constance Wu - 2019
The “Crazy Rich Asians” star was invited to the awards gala with a nomination for best actress.
Adorning the red carpet in a custom Vera Wang spaghetti-strap gown, Wu looked beautiful in one of the night’s most lovely gowns. Done in nude tulle, the dress makes a statement with a corset bodice and a trailing orange velvet ribbon. Around her neck are Messika diamonds and at her toes are Guiseppe Zanotti heels. Classy and pretty.
Lady Gaga - 2019
Lady Gaga’s pastel statement at the 2019 Golden Globes was actually a nod to Judy Garland who wore a very similar dress in the 1954 version of “A Star Is Born.”
The haute couture Valentino gown from the 2018 runway was a strapless ballroom gown in lavender with detached balloon-like sleeves. She added a hint of accent to her platinum do. She looked like a princess, especially wearing that old-fashioned style diamond necklace. No tiara was necessary. And…, Gaga took home the gold. It was her second Golden Globe Award.
Saoirse Ronan - 2018
This custom Atelier Versace gown was modified for Saoirse Ronan. A team of all-women worked on the “Lady Bird” actress’ Golden Globe look.
From makeup to designers, Ronan requested women create her style. The originally all-black asymmetrical Atelier Versace was altered most noticeably with bold silver accents on the left shoulder and up the right side. Her team chose Cartier jewels. The diamond and sapphire drop earrings set off her eyes and a wide cuff bracelet completes the silver adornment.
Barbara Meier - 2018
German actress and model Barbara Meier dressed colorfully because she wanted to. She supports the cause but chose to dazzle in this pastel and sparkly gown with a rainbow-colored feathered cape.
She looks nymphlike with floral embroidering climbing up her bodice like ivy on a tree. It’s an enchanting look with crimson hair, and it was a bold move to go colorful at the 75th awards show.
Penelope Cruz - 2018
Penelope Cruz made a striking entrance in this black lace Ralph & Russo gown. The off-the-shoulder dress with full-length lace sleeves radiates elegance.
At the 75th Golden Globes on January 7, the red carpet saw mostly black gowns in recognition of Time’s Up, a legal defense organization for women. All but three red carpet invitees dressed in the all-black theme. Cruz paired her gown with Christian Louboutin heels and sparkled with Atelier Swarovski.
Jessica Biel - 2017
At the 74th annual Golden Globes, Jessica Biel arrived in this fantastic Elie Saab couture. The belted gown with a high slit has a black velvet top and a black-and-white skirt.
On her skirt, large dainty floral designs embellish the gown. She has Salvatore Ferragamo sandals on her feet. At the gala, Justin Timberlake, Biel’s other half, was nominated for his song “Can’t Stop the Feeling” from the “Trolls” movie.
Emma Stone - 2017
“La La Land” star Emma Stone graced the red carpet in this exquisite gown by Valentino. It featured a low V-neck and was embellished in sparkling stars.
A drop pendant by Tiffany & Co. punctuated her look. She clearly adored the gown. Memorably, she said, “It’s pink and there are stars on it.” What else can you ask for? A Golden Globe Award? Check. Stone took home the Best Actress prize for “La La Land.”
Priyanka Chopra - 2017
The lovely Priyanka Chopra made her first appearance at the Golden Globe Awards in 2017. She was invited as a presenter, and she couldn’t help but stun in gold.

Amber Heard - 2016
Amber Heard arrived at the 2016 Golden Globes in this showstopper. It’s hard to stop staring at the coral-pink Gucci gown, partly because it looks just as fantastic from the front as it does from the back.
A floral embellishment rounds her neckline, and the décor continues down her back. The chiffon fabric gives the actress an ethereal air. Scarlet lip color to complement the floral design sealed the deal.
Kate Bosworth - 2016
Kate Bosworth shimmered on the red carpet at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards. Wearing a custom Dolce & Gabbana column (not shown on the spring runway), Bosworth was a perfect image of glamour.
The “Blue Crush” actress was so excited about showing off the beautiful strapless gown that she documented her pre-show prep for her Instagram followers. Yes, of course, she gave it a spin! The gown glimmered in sequins. The floral detail is embellished with actual jewels. It’s just magnificent.
Conchita Wurst - 2015
The red-carpet guest who brought a dash of exuberance to the 2015 event was Conchita Wurst.
The worldwide famous entertainer from Austria, who was just starting to make waves in fashion circles, came to the Golden Globes wearing a stunning emerald velvet gown. It featured a pinkish bustier and a peek slit high up her thigh. She wore long, flowing tresses and a beard. Wurst has said that her approach to fashion is to show that beauty can exist outside the realm of the ordinary.
Dakota Johnson - 2015
Dakota Johnson in silver Chanel Haute Couture is a Golden Globe red carpet highlight. At the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, she completely sparkled in the metallic strapless Chanel.
A surprise slit up her leg added intrigue to the design. Her ensemble included strappy heels and a mirrored Rauwolf clutch. This look marked the “Fifty Shades of Grey” actress's start on her formidable fashion journey.
Lupita Nyong’o - 2014
All eyes were on Lupita Nyong’o at the 71st Golden Globe Awards. The dazzling model was one to watch, having turned heads on fashion runways during the 2014 season.
She was also an up-and-coming film star, nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Nyong’o chose a red statement gown by Ralph Lauren, even though she was the face of the Miu Miu fashion house. The actress, who is also a Yale School of Drama graduate, donned the dramatic dress that featured an attached cape with the skilled finesse of a supermodel.
Zoe Saldana - 2014
Zoe Saldana made a stunning entrance in Prabal Gurung at the 2014 Golden Globes. The Nyota Uhura actress who appeared in multiple "Star Trek" films nabbed the gown from the brand’s latest 2014 Spring collection.
The cocktail-length dress stood out amongst the rest. It’s fun and she looks just like a gift wrapped up. It was ornamented brilliantly with Swarovski rhinestones. Saldana wore Christian Louboutin heels and held a Bottega Veneta bag.
Michelle Dockery - 2013
The “Downtown Abbey” star looked simply regal on the red carpet in 2013. Michelle Dockery stunned in Alexandre Vauthier couture. The gown by the Parisian-based designer featured a gold, high-neck bodice and white skirt.
The bodice was made of heavy lace embroidery stitched together on a sheer fabric. It was considered a risk choosing the brand, but she pulled it off magnificently and was heralded by fashion critics.
Julianne Hough - 2013
With Ryan Seacrest on her arm and donning a stunning Monique Lhuillier frock, Julianne Hough was crushing it! The gold and white gown was marvelous all over.
It was decorated in sparkling gold grommets and had a skirt of white tulle, culminating in a posh train. So sophisticated! The actress made famous in “Dancing with the Stars” nabbed her first big role in “Burlesque.”
Amy Adams - 2013
Amy Adams made a glamorous appearance on the red carpet in a Marchesa gown. The mermaid-style, barely pink dress showed off her figure, finishing spectacularly with a tulle fishtail train.

Claire Danes - 2012
Screen beauty Clair Danes came to the 69th Golden Globe Awards in an elegant J. Mendel gown.
The couture black-and-white dress features an incredible back cutout that changes up the entire dress. Also noteworthy are the embroidered cap sleeves. She’s wearing Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and clutching a Tiffany & Co. bag. Her jewels are Bulgari. The actress was nominated for her role in Showtime’s “Homeland.”
Sarah Hyland - 2012
At the 2012 Golden Globe Awards, Sarah Hyland made a pretty appearance in a vintage gown. The “Modern Family” star stepped onto the red carpet in a strapless Dolce & Gabbana accented with a figure-flattering black lace belt.
She wore Casadei heels and muted jewelry. There was only one problem. Hyland’s gown ripped apart, causing a wardrobe emergency. The back zipper broke, and she barely had time to grab hold of her dress before it fell off. Luckily any fashion disaster was averted!
Rooney Mara - 2012
“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” star chose a chic Nina Ricci, a Parisian-style house. Rooney Mara said she picked the sexy black cutout dress because she liked it and wanted to represent who she really is, according to “The Hollywood Reporter.”
The minimalist elements of the gown were reiterated with Mara deciding not to wear jewelry. Her hairstyle pulled back tightly, also added to that look.
Elle Macpherson - 2012
Supermodel Elle Macpherson brought her A-game to the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. Modeling a Zac Posen mermaid gown with a tulle train, Macpherson’s curves were nicely accentuated.
She held a gold Kotur clutch in her hand with bulky, diamond-ornated bracelets on her wrist. Wearing her hair flowing down in curls added to her very feminine, mermaid-like appearance. This dress definitely made an impact!
Anne Hathaway - 2011
Anne Hathaway made an elegant impression at the Golden Globe Awards in 2011. She wore Armani Privé, a gown that came straight off the Fall 2010 runway.
It glittered like a disco ball with Swarovski crystals and tiny spangles. She could do no wrong in the pinkish sophisticated gown, despite its dramatic deep cut on the back, or maybe because of it. Hathaway has won a total of three Golden Globes. In 2011, she was nominated for, “Love and Other Drugs.”
January Jones - 2011
When January Jones graced the red carpet in this red Versace, people noticed. She absolutely dazzled in the daring fire-engine red gown. The Red Carpet Fashion Awards criticized her for appearing too “busty.” Well, haters gonna hate!
The actress was hot property in 2011 at the Golden Globe Awards. The “Mad Men” star had all eyes on her. Ten years later in 2021, Jones put the same gown on for an Instagram moment. It fit great.
Cher - 2010
Cher is a certified fashionista who wears the most shocking styles with finesse.
At the 2010 Golden Globe Awards, the actress who is maybe even more successful as a singer was invited for the film “Burlesque.” Photographed with costar Christina Aguilera, the two make a chic pair. Cher is in a Bob Mackie gown. It is a lace-up corset lined in lace. It straps around her shoulders for a secure look.
Drew Barrymore - 2010
Here’s Drew Barrymore all grown up. She looked adorable in that lavender princess dress on her first Golden Globe red carpet. Here she’s in Atelier Versace.
The champagne color sparkled with crystals. She has Jimmy Choo platform sandals and a Roger Vivier clutch in her hand. (Later she will clutch a Golden Globe.) The dress strange decorative protrusion from the hip, but we can look past it with so much elegance.
Sandra Bullock - 2010
Sandra Bullock is a Hollywood veteran who went with a bold red carpet choice. This purple strapless Bottega Veneta came in a brilliant hue.
She plucked the shimmering organza gown straight off the Italian brand’s Spring 2010 runway. And despite a bit of rain attending the event, it did not rain on her parade. Bullock would soon have a Best Actress Golden Globe in her role in “The Blind Side.”
Olivia Wilde - 2009
The Golden Globe Awards in 2009 were widely anticipated since the 2008 gala was canceled. Olivia Wilde did not disappoint in this fairy tale gown. The lavender Reem Arca garment looked stunning on her.
The ruched skirt in soft pastel gave it a magical touch, as did her delicate lavender eyeshadow. The “O.C.” star was just 24 in 2009. At the time of the awards presentation, she starred in the Golden Globe-nominated, “House M.D.”
Miley Cyrus - 2009
Miley Cyrus was absolutely in awe to have had the wonderful fortune to be able to walk the red carpet at the Golden Globes. She was 16 at the time and thrilled to partake in one of the entertainment industry’s top events. Obviously, most 16-year-olds don’t have Golden Globe nominations!
It was a dream come true. Cyrus attended with her parents. She wore a white strapless gown with sheer layering over a large gold print and hair cascaded in ringlets.
Kate Winslet - 2009
Kate Winslet arrived at the Golden Globe Awards in 2009 simply elegant. She looked winning in an empire Yves Saint-Laurent gown. It exuded sophistication in black.
Her clutch and shoes were likewise made by YSL. Glittering around her wrist and hanging from the tie around her waist are diamonds by Chopard. Winslet was all about the win at the awards event. She went home with not-one-but two Golden Globes!
Jennifer Lopez - 2009
Draped in gold, Jennifer Lopez looked stunning as always. She was in Marchesa at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards. Her gown featured a no-back-at-all style with a diving neckline.
A muted train is gathered at her feet on the red carpet at the 66th Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton. There was no gala in 2008 due to a writer’s strike, so Lopez had to make it up here, in 2009, wearing this fantastic dress.
Sienna Miller - 2007
Sienna Miller’s Grecian gown was the talk of the red carpet at the 2007 event. Miller is dressed in Marchesa in gold and white. The gathered scoop neckline is a toga-like look.
The Greek goddess theme is tied together with a braid crown encircling her head. Miller garnered some serious looks with “Factory Girl” and, here, she was making one of her entertainment fashion debuts. Miller would be nominated in 2008 for a Rising Star BAFTA.
Rinko Kikuchi - 2007
No one expected this. Rinko Kikuchi stepped onto the red carpet at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards in a barely lavender pom-pom dress by Chanel.
The pom-poms are actually chiffon camellias. Besides being sewn onto the skirt, pom-poms are also attached from the shoulders, dangling from a cape. It’s the collision of classy and cute. The actress was nominated for Best Actress in “Babel.”
Beyoncé - 2007
Beyoncé showed up to the 2007 Golden Globes absolutely radiating. She glows as brightly as the globe statuette awarded by the HFPA, which is, incidentally, made of real gold.
But who can think of awards when we have Beyoncé gracing the red carpet? Donning an Elie Saab, a shining halter gown with a plunging V-neck, it’s hard to look away. Queen Bey was at the 75th gala as a nominee for Best Actress and Best Song in the film “Dreamgirls.”
Keira Knightley - 2006
This 2006 standout was worn by Keira Knightley at the 74th Golden Globes Awards. The Valentino gown is just as marvelous today as it was then.
It is a wonder of simplicity, an all-white strapless column dress made of crepe satin. The decorative feature sets it apart. It is a floral bow design constructed with padded ribbon and decorated with crystals. Without a doubt, Knightley’s pick is one of the chicest gowns ever worn at the Golden Globes.
Jennifer Garner - 2005
Known for playing Elektra on “Daredevil,” in 2005 Jennifer Garner was already making waves. Walking the red carpet in this vintage Valentino gown, it is clear that red is definitely her color.
The open-back dress cascades in ruffles. Not to be outdone, the cut in front is equally lovely. The gown’s tank top straps have a unique design, attached under the arm. It makes way for the showstopping open back. The Golden Globe winner for “Alias” felt right at home on the red carpet.
Mischa Barton - 2005
In 2005, Mischa Barton was the breakout star to watch out for. She played Marissa Cooper on “The OC.” At the 2005 Golden Globes, Barton stepped out on the red carpet with this daring gown.
The silver Loris Azzaro shimmered on her frame while making a sexy statement. Barton was onstage as a presenter that night, and her fashion moment was lauded by all and is still considered one of the best red carpet triumphs ever.
Diane Keaton - 2004
Diane Keaton looked elegant and sophisticated on the red carpet at the 2004 Golden Globes. In all white, she wore a Nehru jacket, long gloves, and an extravagant string of pearls. She looks winning and win she did. Keaton won the Best Actress prize for “Something’s Gotta Give.”
Her costar Jack Nicholson attended. Accepting the honor, she gushed over the fact that she had the rare opportunity to play the female love interest at her ripe old of 67.
Jennifer Aniston - 2004
Jennifer Aniston is a red carpet veteran, but her 2004 gown at the annual event made lots of impressions. Attending the Golden Globes that year in a deep-cut Valentino, Aniston sent shockwaves everywhere.
The vintage-style dress is simple, except for the belt-like strap that bridges the plunging V-neck. It changes everything. A low-cut dress might go unnoticed, if not for that little black strap.
Charlize Theron - 2004
Charlize Theron played it sweet at the 61 st Golden Globe Awards. The Christian Dior ruffle gown in yellow brightened the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Theron collected the Best Actress Globe for “Monster” while she was there. And she garnered a lot of “awes” for her ensemble. The spaghetti strap dress is made of silk chiffon. Dainty ruffle sleeves are designed to fall on her arm, making it look even sweeter.
Lara Flynn Boyle - 2003
This pretty-in-pink extravaganza may not be the most gorgeous gown ever worn to the Golden Globe Awards, but it is one of the most memorable. It certainly never ceases to bring a smile. Though it is playful, it is nonetheless couture. Designer David Cardona dished on the details of the now-famous tutu dress.
He said the ballerina look was accomplished by making the skirt out of silk tulle. It glitters in Swarovski crystals. And those shoes? Those are Chanel with silk ribbons attached.
Salma Hayek - 2003
At the 2003 Golden Globe Awards, Salma Hayek was stunned. She was invited to the gala to be celebrated for her role as “Frida,” so she wanted to wear something fantastic. She ended up choosing a Narciso Rodriguez gown, even though it was not what she had in mind, but it was more than fantastic.
No one expected that such a minimalist design would translate into the look she was going for. Sheer simplicity. Hayek’s gown is one of the most memorable ever worn at the Golden Globes. And it was all because her stylist suggested she go simple.
Kate Hudson - 2003
The Golden Globe Awards red carpet in 2003 was refined by Kate Hudson in Valentino.
The boho-style strapless dress boasts vibrant colors on sheer fabric, giving it a light and vivacious vibe. It not only complements the actress’ figure, but the red tones also complement the red carpet. Hudson did not take home a Golden Globe Award this year, but she did win in 2001.
Halle Berry - 2002
Halle Berry’s red carpet entrance at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards was a head-turner.
The style icon never disappoints, but this dress is amazing. She’s in a chocolate Valentino gown with an embroidered lace, diamond-shaped cut-out over her belly. Also embellished are the sleeves. That she rocked this look in brown, making it another wonder. Dresses in brown rarely make it to the red carpet.
Anne Heche - 2001
Here, we remember the late Anne Heche making an audacious fashion move at the Golden Globes Awards. Playfully dressed in an all-black leather gown with a collar of sparkling gems, she completes the outfit with a studded black leather bag in hand.
At the 58th Golden Globes, Heche attended, hand-in-hand, with “Ally McBeal” star Lucy Liu. The actress told “Business Insider” that old flame Ellen DeGeneres frowned on her dressing sexy. In 2001, she walked the red carpet as sexy as she wanted to be.
Kim Cattrall - 2002
Here is “Sex and the City” star Kim Cattrall mixing it up on the red carpet at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards.
She’s in a tangerine jersey gown with a beaded neck. It’s a dramatic color choice and the brave statement comes off gorgeously sweet. The previous awards gala in 2001, found her in a magenta ensemble blunder featuring an unflattering coordinated sheer wrap. Happily, she made amends with the red carpet critics in 2002.
Sarah Jessica Parker - 2000
“Sex and the City” is the series that Sarah Jessica Parker is known for. And as she stepped onto the red carpet in 2000, she did not know to expect to win her first Golden Globe for that role. Dazzling as always, Parker is seen here in a Richard Tyler ball gown.
The nude-colored spaghetti strap dress is touched with a breath of pink and beaded with crystals in a dripping-water design.
Courtney Love - 2000
Gracing the red carpet at the 2000 Golden Globe Awards, Courtney Love had to wear couture for the first time. So, she wore a Christian Dior couture collection from John Galliano. The sexy ripped design was partly inspired by a theme of homelessness, and partly Love’s own alterations.
What is certain has Love donned it spectacularly even if she said that she used glue to secure the bodice in place.
Calista Flockhart - 1999
Drop-dead gorgeous in a two-tone Pamela Dennis gown, Calista Flockhart simply adorned the red carpet. The timeless satin dress set her apart at the 1999 award show.
The previous year, the actress went home with a Golden Globe for “Ally McBeal,” the eponymous character from the sitcom everyone knew of. That was long before “Supergirl” and “The Birdcage.” Flockhart was nominated for the Best Actress Golden Globe for five consecutive years, which is every year the show ran.
Cameron Diaz - 1999
Even if we could forget about Cameron Diaz’s fashion footprint wearing this robe, we cannot forget why she is walking the 1999 Golden Globe red carpet. She was the star of the classic ‘90s comedy, “There’s Something About Mary.”
Wearing the kimono-like gown with black suit pants underneath is not sexy, but the character she played was the sexiest star of the year. Perhaps she was tired of being a sexpot.
Angelina Jolie - 1999
Angelina Jolie has graced the red carpet more times than we can count, but at the 56th Golden Globe awards, her beauty glowed. The jewel-encrusted Randolph Duke gown fits her like a glove! Jolie sparkled from head to toe in the silver halter gown, with earrings and dainty heels completing the sparkling ensemble.
It was the actress’ second gala, and she left triumphant with a Golden Globe for “Mia” in her hands.
Alfre Woodard - 1998
Alfre Woodard ruled the red carpet in this elegant bronze and black gown. Intricately embroidered with metallic beading, it was beautiful and shimmered in gold. The mixed textiles and interesting mix of brown and gold colors truly set this garment apart.
The actress is a three-time Golden Globe nominee, and at the 1998 awards ceremony, she nabbed the prize for her work in “Miss Evers’ Boys.”
Demi Moore - 1997
Here is Demi Moore on the red carpet looking dazzling in a silver beaded gown. With cap sleeves and embellished with a leaf beading design, Moore’s fitted gown flatters her figure. She missed the best actress award for “If These Walls Could Talk,” but scored with a fashion moment.
Pictured with hubby Bruce Willis in 1997, it would be one of the last times the ‘80s power couple would be photographed together. After being married for eleven years and with three daughters, they split in 1998.
Gwyneth Paltrow - 1996
At the 53 rd Golden Globe Awards, Gwyneth Paltrow shone in a soft pink Calvin Klein slip gown.
The sequined ensemble includes the matching wrap she is holding. The dainty dress style presents one of the decade’s fashion high points. On her other hand, she holds Brad Pitt. Before Jen and Angelina, these two were THE ’90s couple. They dated for two years and even got engaged!
Uma Thurman - 1995
Uma Thurman broke out big time in 1995 as Mia in “Pulp Fiction.” The character is so iconic in modern cinema, it’s like Thurman broke the mold. The actress stepped out on the Golden Globe red carpet with a daring fashion move, especially as a debutant.
She wore an ivory gown made of satin that very much resembles a trench coat. This makes for both an expensive and surprising look.
Angela Bassett - 1994
At the 51 st Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, Angela Bassett stole the show. Not only did she win the Best Actress prize for her portrayal of Tina Turner in “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” but she also won big on the red carpet.
Her gown featured satin and lace, with one side of the bodice in satin and the other in lace. Around the waist, the lace and satin came together with peplum trim. This was Bassett’s breakout role, and she did the award circuit in style.
Helen Hunt - 1994
Helen Hunt dazzled in this barely-there lace gown at the 1994 Golden Globes. The gown is made of silver embroidery on a sheer shell. The daintiest spaghetti straps hold the “Mad About You” star in her dress.
It was a victorious night. Hunt collected the first of her three Best Actress Golden Globes for the sitcom. Needless to say, she looked amazing at the podium that evening at the Beverly Hills Hotel ballroom with her Golden Globe in hand.
Janine Turner - 1993
A favorite of the 1993 awards shows red carpet was “Northern Exposure” star, Janine Turner.
She turned heads wearing this fitted gown in bright red. Red lipstick and a cropped tousle of locks complete the actress’s image of elegance. She likes to wear jewels sparsely. Here she is wearing a pair of drop earrings and a dainty bracelet, the effect is quite chic.
Michelle Pfeiffer - 1992
At the 49th Golden Globe Awards, Michelle Pfeiffer made a major fashion statement with her style of dress.
She wore a backless halter gown attached around the neck. A dramatic plunge line landed at the small of her back leaving the sides of her back conspicuously uncovered. In her hand, she held a black satin clutch. The revealing dress caused a bit of a stir among one of Hollywood’s then-hottest movie stars.
Geena Davis - 1992
One of the most amazing Golden Globe fashion moments happened at the 49th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Geena Davis stepped out boldly in an outfit no one expected. Sheer bodysuits were not a thing back in the early ‘90s, but the talented actress made it "Vogue" and gorgeous all at once.
The black lace bodysuit was wrapped in silky seafoam green. An around-the-neck halter top and a sarong-style skirt covered the rest of her. She attended the event with a nomination for “Thelma & Louise.”
Winona Ryder - 1991
Winona Ryder made an elegant impression at the Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills on January 19, 1991. Wearing a simple yet stylish wrap dress with a matching shawl over her arm, she tones down her signature goth look for the night.

Audrey Hepburn - 1990
Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn who is beloved for her role in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” was at the 47th Golden Globe Awards for a special reason. She looks absolutely stunning in a white satin column gown.

Julia Roberts - 1990
This gorgeous and iconic actress who hit fame squarely on the nose in the ‘80s was a major bombshell of the era. She opted to wear a suit with prominent shoulder pads instead of a glitzy gown.
Not caring what anybody thought, the actress’ face beams with beauty while an oversized grey suit threatens to swallow her. It wouldn’t be the first time she went in a suit. This one is Giorgio Armani, from the men’s department.
Connie Sellecca - 1989
Actress Connie Sellecca, pictured at the Golden Globe Awards in 1989, radiates in red. Her gown is so chic with such flattering lines, that it’s hard to believe we are looking at a style from the ‘80s.
It’s a timeless gown and Sellecca dons it gracefully. Only her chunky earrings and big hair hint as to which decade this photo is from. She won in attire but missed the gold prize that night. It would have been her first Golden Globe.
Melanie Griffith - 1987
At the 44th Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, Melanie Griffith made a big splash at the gala by wearing a memorable dress. Long before rainbows were a Pride celebration, Griffith wrapped herself like a rainbow of ribbons in stripes of sparkling colors.
The sequined splendor featured a black background. Her look is all about the eighties. Besides the rainbow and black color scheme, her hair is done in the spikey eighties trend. It seems she took the film’s title to heart. She was nominated for “Something Wild.”
Drew Barrymore - 1983
Here we have one of the cutest dresses ever worn to the Golden Globe Awards. It is Drew Barrymore who is all dolled up in an adorable pink princess dress. It was bejeweled and made fancy with tulle, and it came with a white faux fur shawl.
She was just eight years old and on a meteoric ascent as a young star going over the moon with the success of “E.T.” She was invited to the award show in the International Ballroom at the Beverly Hills Hilton for the Steven Spielberg film.

To finish, she wore a dainty diamond bracelet and held a gold clutch. “Grease,” the film version, brought the Australian actress to the Golden Globes that year.
