Jennifer Grey was exceptional as Jeanie Bueller, the responsible younger sister of Ferris Bueller in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Grey was so good as the goody-two-shoes character that it might be surprising to know that she is a bit of a rebel off-screen. She once crashed a scene during the filming of the logistically complicated parade scene in downtown Chicago simply because she was bored. She soon became known for her role in the cult film “Dirty Dancing.”
Her private life has also piqued fan and press curiosity over the years. In her memoir, “Out of the Corner,” Grey reflects on her childhood and her relationships with actors Matthew Broderick and Johnny Depp.
DeRon Horton – Dear White People
Netflix's ten-episode adaptation of the film “Dear White People” brought us DeRon Horton as Lionel Hughes, a shy, reserved, closeted freshman who finds himself as a loner in college. While presented as nerdy, it's clear that Horton cleans up nicely.
Born in Texas but raised in Saudi Arabia, Horton has had quite the life. There's not much about him – he doesn't even have a Wikipedia page – but he's been in “American Horror Story,” “Burning Sands,” and “Lethal Weapon.” He has plenty of roles that are coming up soon, and as Palpatine said in “The Phantom Menace,” we will watch his career with great interest.
Shannon Purser – Stranger Things
“Stranger Things” wowed us with fun visuals, funny characters, and great storylines. Shannon Purser's character, Barb Holland, did not last too long in the show, but fans fell in love with her while she tried to keep Nancy Wheeler on the straight and narrow.
Barb is quite the classic eighties nerd, but Purser is the exact opposite, stunning every time she appears in public. In real life, Purser is an amateur visual artist and musician and is a hard advocate for mental health and anxiety awareness. She was the titular loser in “Sierra Burgess Is a Loser” back in 2018.
Mike White - School Of Rock
While many know him best as the lovable Ned Schneebly from “School of Rock,” Mike White was much more than just a secondary character in the film. Did you know he was also the mastermind behind its clever screenplay? White's writing prowess doesn't stop there, either. The brilliant wordsmith is one of the creative forces behind numerous beloved shows and movies, including “Orange County” and “Freaks and Geeks.”
Also, fans who followed the 2022 Emmy Awards collectively lost their minds when they realized that “Ned Schneebly” is actually the Mike White, creator of the hit HBO show “The White Lotus.” As “The White Lotus” swept the awards and stole the show, social media brought White back into the spotlight.
Sean Murray - NCIS
Sean Murray won the hearts of "NCIS" fans worldwide with his portrayal of Special Agent Timothy McGee. What fans probably didn’t know was that Murray's personal experiences helped him shape the role. His father, a Navy captain, served for thirty years and moved the family to various naval bases across the country.
Murray was even born at a Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Despite being a staple on "NCIS," Murray has only taken on a handful of other projects, including the BBC drama "Agatha Christie: Ordeal by Innocence." In a 2020 podcast, Murray revealed that he wanted to prioritize quality time with his wife and two children. Murray's also a hardcore music fan and creates his own music.
