Kumail Nanjiani broke the internet when he posted a picture of his body transformation for his role in “The Eternals.” Everyone was drooling over his abs and that includes us. The pool at our feet still hasn’t dried.
Anyways, this transformation took Kumail over a year, and with the help of the best trainers and nutritionists money can buy. He even admits this transformation was hard and without the time and resources available to him through Marvel his body wouldn’t have ever happened.
Blake Lively Had to Dig Deep for “The Shallows”
Getting in shape is hard regardless of where you are in life. It is even harder when you just had a baby. Well, for Blake Lively that was the case when she had to get in shape for “The Shallows,” only a few months after welcoming her oldest daughter, James, into the world.
She put herself into gear, worked out 13 hours a day, and got into incredible shape for her role. Good on you Blake because we think we would have just searched for a new role if we were in your shoes.
Alicia Vikander and Her “Tomb Raider” Transformation
Do you know what is harder than losing weight for a role? Putting on weight for a role. That is exactly what Alicia Vikander did before she portrayed Lara Croft in “Tomb Raider”; 12 pounds to be exact. Alicia worked with Magnus Lygdbad, the same trainer who got Gal Gadot ready for “Wonder Woman” and took seven months to gain weight for the role.
She used MMA fight training, swimming, and intensive strength training to bulk up as Lara. The hard work paid off and we can definitely see her fighting in the octagon against Ronda Rousey in a hypothetical movie.
People Went Mad (Men) for Alison Brie's “GLOW” Transformation
Who would have thought that Trudy Vogel from “Mad Men” would go on to play a wrestler, Ruth “Zoya the Destroya” Wilder in “GLOW”? Not us. However, that is exactly what she did. She bulked up for her role with the trainer, Jason Walsh, and now can do 11 pull-ups without assistance. That’s pretty impressive because we can only do 5.
She was training up to four days a week and sometimes twice a day. Maybe we have to adopt that strategy if we also want to do 11 pull-ups.
Emily Blunt Transformed for “Edge of Tomorrow”
Emily Blunt had cannons for arms in “The Edge of Tomorrow” and it is no surprise when you hear Jason Walsh was also her trainer. He seems to be getting all of Hollywood into shape and Emily was one of his latest clients.
They spent 2 months training for the role which often included stunt practice, sprints, and weighted vest training. The coolest thing was that costar Tom Cruise would also join in on workout sessions. We are so jealous.
