Bullock wanted to produce a film based on F.X. Toole’s short story “Rope Burns: Stories from the Corner”, but the executives in Fortis Films were not interested in a female lead boxing drama. Then in 2004, the short story was finally picked up by Clint Eastwood, who ended up being the lead actor, producer, and director of the Oscar-winning film ‘Million Dollar Baby’.
It opened to widespread acclaim, won four Academy Awards, and grossed over $200 million at the box office. When asked if she was upset about how it worked out, Bullock said, “When things like that happen, that’s the way they’re supposed to be.”
Bullock and Lopez’s Friendship is Still Strong
Since launching The George Lopez Show, the Hispanic-American actor-producer has gone to become one of America’s most known Latino actors. The real cherry on top though was the amazing friendship between Sandra Bullock and George Lopez that still going strong to this day. In a 2011 interview for People Magazine, Goerge talked about his relationship with Bullock, “She invested in me, and she wouldn’t take no for an answer. And with that, and just who she is, she has my undying love and my undying loyalty...Every day I thank her for believing in me.”
He also commented on her adoption of baby Louis, “I can only say that I did not have a mother, and I would have very much liked that one to be mine!” Lopez says with a laugh. “She’s already my fairy godmother, but any child that gets to be in Sandra Bullock’s arms is going to be a great person.”
Bullock Gave Lopez His First Blackberry
The oscar actress and comedian have been friends since 2000. To celebrate their relationship, Bullock gave Lopez his first BlackBerry phone as a gift. Not wanting to miss the chance to be a sweetheart, she sent him a message that he saved. The message said, “If you ever need me, I’m your big sister. If you ever need me to be the bad guy, I will be the bad guy,”.
Bullock definitely made some smart decisions, both in her personal and professional life, but there was one film she missed that could have been her magnum opus.
Bullock Used to Match Dresses With Her Mom
As a child, Sandra Bullock would wear matching dresses with her mom, but she didn't love doing it. Bullock’s mother, Helga Meyer, was a German opera singer, soprano, and educator. She used to make all her outfits herself and did the same for Bullock.
“That mortified me as a child because she would make matching minidresses, and we had little gladiator sandals....I didn’t like that feeling,” she told InStyle. "So I went the other way: I went tomboy — jeans, baseball caps. I skated, and rode bikes." Maybe it's just us but jeans or minidress - Sandra Bullock can pull anything off.
She Loves Home Renovating
In an interview with Lifestyle, Bullock shared her love and passion for interior decoration, “Moving furniture or working on one of the properties I’m renovating. It’s heaven, I get up on Sundays, and I’m literally looking at house listings and Remodelista magazine".
Throughout her career, she has built up an impressive real-estate empire by turning her income from films into real estate and owns many homes throughout the United States. She describes it as addictive, as she loves doing a lot of hands-on stuff. And now, knowing all about construction, no one can rip her off.
