The woods were laden with searchers and officers. Beth couldn’t stomach the idea that her granddaughter might be out there in the wilderness, fending off all kinds of terrible threats. Despite the community wanting to help. The authorities insisted that locals must not enter the woods as they didn’t want to put any civilians’ health and safety at risk.
And while they were in the woodlands, the sheriff, the police, and the firefighters all experienced the dangers that the wild presents. The conditions were so tough, rocky, and perilous. There were even snakes to worry about. Soon though, they would discover a vital clue…
Mom Will Never Give Up
There is no denying that Charlee’s family was going through so much pain during this period of uncertainty – especially Natalie. In an interview, she claimed that she would never give up trying to find her daughter, even if it meant searching for the rest of her life.
“She was out there all night last night. I won't stop until she's found,” she said. “I don't care if the dogs have searched and no scent. I don't care. I'll look until she comes back or something.” But even though these words came just two days in, you just never know how long these searches might take…
Two Days In
So, two days had officially passed since the last time Charlee had been seen. Volunteers were searching all over the town, authorities were working around the clock, and many people around the state were learning about this little girl’s disappearance as they woke up that day.
Charlee’s family was in close contact with the sheriff. But still, no single sign of her whereabouts. All Beth and the others could do was supply the authorities with as many details about Charlee as possible. The key at this stage was to not lose hope that they would find her, but it was growing increasingly difficult.
A Helpful Neighbor
Just when everyone thought that all hope was lost, someone spoke up and had some potentially life-changing information. After 36 hours, a neighbor by the name of Wayne was stuck at home on his couch, hoping that Charlee would be safe.
He got down on his knees and started to pray that the authorities would find the little girl and bring her home in one piece. After finishing his prayers, he got up to get himself a glass of water. And then, as he looked outside the window to his backyard, he couldn’t believe what he was about to see…
As he looked out into his backyard, Wayne was shocked by what he had laid eyes on. It was a girl. She was pretty small. She looked very young and had long, flowing blonde hair. She pretty much perfectly matched the description of Charlee.
She was just wandering around in his backyard, minding her own business as Charlee would. Wayne gave a huge sigh of relief. But of course, he couldn’t be 100% if it was her or not. He needed to see if it was for sure Charlee. So, he went out to check on her. But was it really her?
