Beth’s next step was to knock on the doors of all her neighbors. She wasn’t particularly social with the people who lived in her area. But in times of need, it’s normal to call upon those around you. And that’s exactly what Beth did.
Unfortunately, though, every time she asked a neighbor if they had seen Charlee, all they could do was shake their heads and say “no.” With each passing decline from the neighbors, Beth’s anxiety only got greater and greater. And the ideas of what could have happened to Charlee were only getting worse. She needed to move fast.
At about 10 that morning, Charlee’s grandmother Beth woke up and started what she expected to be a relatively uneventful day. But when she proceeded to Charlee’s bedroom, she quickly realized that she was not there. She then walked downstairs and was alarmed to see that the front door was open.
Beth started to run around the house, calling her granddaughter’s name and opening every door. At first, she assumed that Charlee was playing a game of hide and seek with her. But this theory soon faded away when no one responded to her. Beth started to fear the worst…
It soon became crystal clear to Beth that something was seriously wrong. By the time she reached the front lawn, Beth couldn’t help but fall into an extreme fit of panic. It was 10 AM at this point, so there was no telling exactly when was the last time Charlee had been seen.
Beth started to fear the worst. What if someone had kidnapped Charlee? What if she just fell into a ditch somewhere? There was a range of horrific possibilities for her granddaughter. Now though, it was time for Beth to double her efforts in order to bring Charlee home.
Everyone Wanted to Help
The news of Charlee’s disappearance started to spread through the neighborhood (and beyond) like wildfire. Most people could relate to the pain that Beth was going through. And so, people from all over started to get in touch to try and help locate Charlee’s whereabouts.
People started to make announcements at community events such as BBQs and Church gatherings. They also started to drop what they were doing (jobs, family commitments, etc.) to dedicate all their attention to finding Charlee. Beth was astounded by the response of her community. And the efforts to find Charlee became even more impressive as the days went on…
Have You Seen This Girl?
One important effort that some members of the community helped to carry out was distributing posters detailing Charlee’s disappearance for the entire town to see. The more exposure the story got, the higher the chances of someone finding Charlee.
On the poster, it was revealed that Charlee was on the autism spectrum. The poster also explained that she was most recently seen wearing a blue pair of pajamas showing characters from the movie “Frozen.” The community was really stepping up to solve this mystery, but they were not the only people who were about to dedicate their lives to this cause…
