What is it with Canada that makes it so close to Meghan’s heart? She was brought up in California, and yet, with all the LA has to offer (and it does), she still considers Canada as her second home. So where does that put London we ask? Anyway, during all of her years on “Suits,” she lived in Toronto as the show was filmed there, and her lifestyle was pretty calm.
Shooting, yoga, cooking classes, repeat. So when things went a bit noisy in the UK, it was only natural for the couple to seek their future in Canada, using the fact it is part of the commonwealth as a great excuse.
She Works to Inspire Young Women
The duchess often uses her celebrity and influence to speak out against racial injustice in the world. She has always been very candid about her struggles as a woman who is mixed race, and she works so that others may not have to deal with the same type of issues in the future. In one interview, she told of how hard it was for her to find jobs in Hollywood when she was still an actress.
The actress apparently struggled to find roles that fit her, saying, “I wasn’t white enough for the white roles, and I wasn’t black enough for the black roles.” To this day, some publications still photoshop her images to make her appear lighter and with fewer freckles. But you can be sure that if she notices it, she’s definitely going to say something about it.
Those Close to Her Think She’s Funny
Meghan may not have had the most positive media leading up to her marriage to Prince Harry, but those that know her best say that she’s genuinely a good person. But it isn’t just her heart that draws people to her. Apparently, she has quite a funny streak, as well. According to an insider who accompanied the royal family on an overnight train trip, the duchess made the late Queen Elizabeth laugh so hard that she even “snorted” a little.
The insider made sure to note that that very seldom happens when the late queen was working. It’s no wonder the duchess is funny, or else according to Harry’s friends; he wouldn’t have even considered marrying her. Friends of the prince say that he’s a bit of a free spirit (at least, according to royal standards) and that he wouldn’t want to be with anyone boring. Someone that used to work with the duchess went so far as to say that she is “wicked funny.” She must be if she could make the late Queen of England snort-laugh! It’s too bad no one was there to catch that on video.
She Could Have a Column in Vogue
The Duchess seems to be working closely with "Vogue" to promote her philanthropy endeavors in the magazine. She has contributed as a guest editor for an issue in which she chose sixteen of the most influential women in the world. At first, the editors asked her to be on the cover, but she thought this choice would come off as rash, so she suggested featuring other women instead.
The spread apparently went over so well that she has been asked to do a regular column about her charity work and other philanthropic endeavors. There was lots of drama before the royal wedding, that’s for sure. Tensions ran high, and issues arose at what looked like the worst possible time.
She Taught Bookbinding
You thought Meghan was only about acting and "duchessing?" Think again. Apparently, Meghan Markle taught bookbinding during one of her visits to Africa. Markle revealed that she privately visited an initiative called “Victoria Yards,” which hosted an event that brought artisans, charities and start-ups together. The initiative is supported by the British council.
Now, this is no new talent of hers, as she learned how to do this back in her early twenties. There are not many details to share covering this workshop she took part in during that royal tour, however, we have heard of some other well-known celebs that are into bookbinding, so it's probably not a great big deal.
