Delvar knew she was waiting for him. It was impossible to ignore her beautiful blonde curls from a distance and as he passed by the house, he would honk his horn as loud as he could.
Like always, little Brooklyn Andracke waited at the front window. Delvar was her truck driver hero, and there was a reason why he was so hooked on the Andracke family.
Everyone knew who Delvar Dopson was. They all recognized his truck and knew his unchanging route by heart. His regular Thursday path brought his charming and loveable face to the embracing community.
Delvar was a sanitation worker. Except for his name, no one really knew anything about him or his personal life. He did his job, waved at the waiting children, and drove off to continue the rest of his day.
Little Brooklyn Andracke
One little girl would eagerly wait for him every week to appear from around the corner. Her name was Brookly Andracke. She was almost three years old, and the kitchen window at the front of the house was her favorite waving point.
And like every week, that Thursday was no different than others and little Brooklyn, together with her mother Traci, waited patiently for the garbage truck to arrive.
A Silent Relationship
Brooklyn and Delvar never really communicated and still, she became very fond of him. Her mother said that waiting for the garbage man was a regular thing on Thursday's to-do list and that little Brooklyn would wait for it impatiently all week.
Traci said, “To Brooklyn, he is our favorite awesome smiley garbage man.” Waving her arm and wishing him a good day wasn't enough, and she wanted to do something special for him.
A Simple Wish Would Come True
If there was one thing Brooklyn could wish for, it would be to meet Delvar the garbage man in person. No big doll houses were needed, no bikes or teddy bears, just meeting her hero driver face to face.
Traci was about to make her little daughter's dream come true. So, one day instead of waving to him from behind the kitchen window, she took her to the front lawn where she could wait for him and wave in person.
